Cool Choices is excited to announce that this fall we will be leading a county-wide sustainability program in Waukesha County. Thousands of Waukesha County residents will have the opportunity to join teams with colleagues and friends to show off their smart habits and compete for prizes—all while saving money at home and at work by adopting sustainable practices.

Making Cool Choices in Waukesha County

Residents and businesses in Waukesha County will have free access to the Cool Choices program thanks to a grant from the McKnight Foundation. Cool Choices received funding for a community-scale program somewhere in Wisconsin and business leaders in Waukesha County advocated to implement the program in their community. Through the Cool Choices program, local businesses and individuals will reduce their operating costs by saving energy and reducing waste while gaining county-wide recognition for their sustainability efforts.

“Our program gets employees excited about what their employers are doing around sustainability and Waukesha County leaders saw this as a great opportunity to help innovative local businesses recruit and retain workers,” says Kathy Kuntz, Executive Director of Cool Choices.

Everyone Can Join the Fun

Local business chambers from across the county are partnering with Cool Choices to help recruit businesses and residents to participate. “Cool Choices is a great opportunity for our business members to get to participate in a sophisticated employee engagement program at no cost,” says Katie Miller, Executive Director of the Oconomowoc Chamber of Commerce. Already over two dozen local businesses and several area chambers of commerce have committed to be participate in the program.

The Cool Choices program launches in September with an open registration period. Everyone is encouraged to join—people can form teams with their neighbors, friends, family, and colleagues. The goal is to get a large group of people throughout the county engaged in sharing their sustainable practices and celebrating all the positive actions going on throughout the area.
