In early 2011, Cool Choices collaborated with a team of Miron Construction Co., Inc. employees to develop and field our very first employee engagement program—a sustainability program that promoted environmentally conscious practices in building design. This first program showcased Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) categories such as energy and water efficiency, and it helped shape future Cool Choices partnerships. Since kicking off our program with Miron Construction in 2011, Cool Choices has partnered with dozens of entities, and engaged individuals and businesses across the country, including businesses right in Miron’s own backyard.

While our platform has evolved a lot since 2011, the core of what we do has not changed. Our mission is to celebrate people who do the right things, and to inspire them to include even more sustainable practices into their daily lives. Also unchanged, is Miron Construction’s commitment to and leadership of its employees. In the years since our first program, Miron has continued to implement numerous initiatives in order to facilitate employee growth.

Miron Earth Day 2017 Corporate Sustainability Program

We launched Miron’s first program on Earth Day in 2011. As Earth Day 2017 approaches, we are delighted to announce that we will launch a new program with Miron this year. The 2017 initiative will promote sustainable practices, while also increasing staff awareness of the WELL Building Standard. Miron’s leadership is partnering with Cool Choices to help its employees learn about their personal health as it relates to the built environment in which they work, while also increasing employee awareness of emerging trends in building practices.

“In 2011, Cool Choices helped us energize employees around sustainability, making everyone at Miron aware of how LEED was relevant to their work,” noted Theresa Lehman, director of sustainable services at Miron. “We are excited to partner with Cool Choices again, this time to increase staff understanding of the WELL Building Standard.”

The Cool Choices team is also excited to partner with Miron on another employee engagement and sustainability program.

Kathy Kuntz, Executive Director at Cool Choices, said, “We learned so much from our first partnership with Miron. Their staff played a key role in the evolution of our program. I’m delighted that we can circle back to Miron and share all we’ve learned with them, helping them achieve new heights in the process.”
